Accessibility
Updated: 2 September 2026. SnapGem is designed to make its public catalog, account flows and virtual try-on service perceivable, operable, understandable and robust across modern browsers and assistive technologies.
Service description
SnapGem lets shoppers browse jewelry, open a camera-based virtual try-on, freeze an image, position/rotate/resize jewelry, save or share the result, and follow the merchant’s product link. Merchants can manage profiles and jewelry listings through the dashboard.
Accessibility approach
Our engineering target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the relevant principles of EN 301 549 / the European Accessibility Act. This statement describes the design and operation of the current service; it is not a claim that an independent accessibility audit has certified every page.
- Semantic headings, landmarks and navigation.
- A “Skip to main content” link and visible keyboard focus.
- Keyboard-operable links, forms, consent controls and try-on editing controls.
- Touch targets designed for mobile use and no functionality that depends only on hover.
- Text alternatives for meaningful product imagery and accessible names for controls.
- High-contrast dark interface, support for forced-colors/high-contrast modes and browser zoom.
- Reduced-motion preference support.
- Cookie consent does not block access to the service and Accept/Reject controls receive equal visual treatment.
Virtual try-on alternatives and controls
The visual try-on naturally uses a camera, but access to product information and merchant links does not require the camera. After taking a photo, users can adjust jewelry by touch/mouse or keyboard:
- Arrow keys — move jewelry.
- Plus / minus — resize jewelry.
- Left / right bracket — rotate jewelry.
- R — reset jewelry position.
Users can also browse the product image, name, category, seller and destination link without using visual try-on.
Known limitations
Camera tracking, device camera permissions and the visual realism of jewelry placement depend on the user’s hardware/browser and are inherently visual. We provide manual editing and non-camera product navigation as alternative paths. Third-party browser/ML components may have accessibility behavior outside SnapGem’s direct control.
Monitoring and feedback
Accessibility is treated as an ongoing product requirement. We test core journeys during releases and aim to remove barriers as they are found. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need information in an alternative accessible format, contact shiridiamonds@walla.com. Please include the page/function and the assistive technology or device involved where possible.
